Janette Laverrière’s vibrant pieces could be the work of the contemporary designer as they all embody clever indications of their ambiguous functionality without losing sight of joie de vivre. Due to her strong political ethos, Laverrière’s ideal was ‘design for all’ and she wished to have her designs mass-produced but was regularly refused by conventionally-minded manufacturers and therefore produced only one- or two-of-a-kind pieces.

During London design week 2004, celebrated designer Gaetano Pesce is launching his new Alda Lamp collection at Rabih Hage. The Alda Lamps come in three designs, in various vivid colours and are made from polyurethane material to make them moveable and flexible. The lamps’ colours and unusual shapes are inspired by the sea and its creatures, specifically jellyfish.
