A beautifully restored period apartment in Paris.
In this project, we stayed true to the 19th century style and decoration while paying particular attention to the client's way of living, sensitive to their travels and artifacts collected from various countries visited. “The clients lived in Japan and China for many years before returning to France to occupy this apartment”, says Hage. “So this was, in a way, their final stop and they brought a number of pieces with them from Asia – furniture, art and decorative panels – and these became important ingredient within the interiors.”
area: 3,500 ft²
client: private
We adjusted the layout of the apartment to help create a more spacious principal suite, taking the place of what had previously been a reception room. We also created a larger family kitchen, all the while preserving and restoring original elements such as the cornicing and parquet floors, with respect for the Haussmann-Era provenance of the building.
One of the most satisfying aspects of this project, was the collaborative nature of it. The apartment beautifully reflects the personalities of our clients as well as showing reverence towards its history. “So it is very different to anything else but it never feels staged. For them, it’s all very natural as any home should be.”
