A 70s inspired Canary Wharf flat.

We have converted the top three floors of this magnificent tower designed by SOM on Baltimore Wharf into ten apartments; a mix of single floor one to two bedrooms, and two to three bedroom duplexes. We have delivered the interior fit-out and architecture packages. We also worked on transforming additional commercial floor areas into residential units of the top part of the tower.

area: 9,700 ft²

client: galliard homes

Furthermore,we were commissioned for one unit to be furnished and used as a pied-à-terre by a new European owner. “The brief from the client was that he wanted to emulate his grandmother’s apartment, decorated in the 70s, for which he had great admiration,” say Hage. That brief, along with the knowledge of the client’s extensive vinyl record collection allowed Hage to design a reimagining of the Parisian apartment he grew up in.

The furniture is a mix of new productions of classic mid-century designs with pieces from Pierre Paulin, Castelli Ferrieri, Eero Saarinen and Vico Magistretti. One of the most striking elements of this design is the bold use of colour. We combined vibrant shades and striking shapes and patterns in the rugs, wallpaper and fabrics.

We are particularly proud of the kitchen design – oak veneer cupboards with carved recess handles, striated panelling, all surrounded by curved a macassar ebony frame. The design was universally loved and reproduced by the developer across a further 9 apartments.

Our services here were internal architecture and interior design, as well as the special kitchen design (as a stand-alone product). We provided both technical and finish specifications as well as FF&E to the entire upper portion of the development.
